No Rahman music for INDIAN films ?

Music composer A.R. Rahman's international career which has taken off in a biggish way after Slumdog Millionaire keeps encountering snags, thanks to long-pending assignments back home.

According to sources, Rahman has to keep interrupting his international plans to be home for various pending assignments. The harried composer is now seriously thinking of putting all home-made assignments on hold to concentrate on building his career abroad, or else he feels he would lose the international advantage he obtained after Slumdog Millionaire.

Says a friend of Rahman: "The Indian assignments after Slumdog Millionaire have been very time-consuming, especially Raavan where Rahman not only had to do two versions of the music in Hindi and Tamil, but director Ratnam also asked him to give three to four tunes for every lyric before one was selected. The music of Raavan took more time than Rahman could afford, with the result that other Indian assignments primarily Tyrewala's untitled John Abraham-Pakhi starrer got left behind."

At the moment Rahman is back again in Chennai for mixing the music of Abbas'. But the background score of the film, which releases in October, is still to be done.

No one is admitting it, but one of the primary reasons why Tyrewala's film got delayed is the music score which Rahman has been serving up piecemeal, for no fault of his, since the was committed to be out of the country for half the year for his world concerts.

Says the source: "Rahman had to continuously keep breaking his international tours and other projects to be home for various reasons, like the music release of Raavan and other things. He has begun to feel that his international career would never take off if he has to keep returning home."

Abbas Tyrewala, in Chennai with Rahman for the mixing of his film's music, jumps to the composer's defence. "Yes, Rahman has been a little tied up and therefore unable to deliver quickly. But that's because he has to be constantly moving back and forth between India and the US. Raavan took much longer than Rahman thought. I'm not worried about my music. It's almost done. Whatever time Rahman takes is finally worth the while."

In the meanwhile, Rahman has not signed a single new assignment in Mumbai or Chennai in the last few months.

After completing Abbas Tyrewala's music, Rahman will now focus on consolidating his career abroad.

Seven doctors involved in the healthcare of Michael Jackson will not be prosecuted over his death.

Officials in California decided yesterday (28.07.10) not to press charges as part of investigations into his death from acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009.

However, Dr. Conrad Murray ' who has pleaded not guilty to felony involuntary manslaughter charges ' was not among the seven cleared.

Brian Oxman, a lawyer for Michael's father Joe Jackson, said he was 'disappointed' the Drug Enforcement Agency would not be investigating any other doctors.

He said: ' am very disappointed. The misuse of medications by Michael Jackson in the last years of his life was excessive and to fail to bring that to the public eye is ignoring reality.'

Christine Gasparac, a spokesperson for the Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement, revealed one of the seven doctors was being referred to the California Medical Board for prescribing drugs to an alias used by Michael, but the board refused to confirm any further details.

Despite being involved in ongoing investigations into Michael's death, Dr. Murray is still allowed to practice medicine after a Los Angeles judge decided in June he should be able to continue.

Randy Jackson, one of the late singer's brothers, said: 'The recent court proceedings have been difficult for us as a family.

"However, it is a necessary process that we are well prepared to endure in our fight for justice for Michael."

George Michael arrested after smashing his car into a shop

The 'Careless Whisper' singer lost control of his Range Rover in the early hours of Sunday morning (04.07.09) after attending the Gay Pride parade in London on Saturday (03.07.10) and ploughed into the door of photo store Snappy Snaps. The 47-year-old pop star ' who only recently ended a two-year driving ban - was arrested by police at 3.35am on suspicion of being unfit to drive. The Hampstead shop in north London was left with a broken door and shattered windows from the force of the impact. George was released on bail until next month. A police spokesman told Britain's The Sun newspaper: 'A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of being unfit to drive.' The singer's spokesman has so far refused to comment on the incident. George's erratic behaviour once again raises concerns over his lifestyle. He was arrested in September 2008 after being caught in a public toilet in possession of crack cocaine and marijuana. A year previously he was handed 100 hours community service for drug driving after being found slumped at the wheel of his Mercedes car by police. In a frank interview last year the ex-WHAM! star insisted he had cut down his marijuana use, smoking only "seven or eight" cannabis-laced cigarettes a day from 25. George - who is in a long-term relationship with art dealer Kenny Goss - also admitted he was frustrated that people judge him for his drug use and penchant for casual gay sex. He said: "People want to see me as tragic with all the cottaging and drug-taking. I don't see them as weaknesses any more. It's just who I am. "I've done different things at different times that I shouldn't have done, once or twice, you know. Of course, nobody wants to regularly smoke crack."
